Scale cover of adult female circular to elongate-oval, usually white, with brown exuviae on anterior end; ventral scale as well developed as the dorsal part. Scale cover of immature male similar to that of female but smaller, elongate and very narrow. ODONAL.jpg

Adult female not pupillarial; body circular to oval, pygidium sclerotized, to some degree also lateral areas of derm on prepygidial abdominal segments and even thorax. Pygidium triangular, usually bearing a single median lobe at the apex and without any invaginated tubes; pygidial margin with or without internal intersegmental scleroses (usually with). Anus situated near centre of, or slightly anterior to centre of pygidium; vulva not always situated at same level as anus. One to four sizes of ducts present, often indistinctly 1- or 2-barred, scattered on both surfaces of the pygidium and on lateral areas of the body. Preygidium with or without duct tubercles. Perivulvar pores present or absent; stigmatic disc pores present by anterior and sometimes posterior spiracles. Antennae each situated on flat derm, well anterior to anterior ridge of clypeolabral shield; intersegmental folds present, sclerotized in comb-like series of spicules; crenulae present on venter of abdomen; circular striation of marginal and submarginal areas of head and thorax without cuticular projections.
