Appearance in life
Scale cover of adult female very elongate, consisting mostly of dark brown or black exuviae. Scale cover of immature male, if present, pale with black terminal exuviae, much shorter than that of female.

Morphology
Adult female pupillarial; body very elongate to elongate-ovoid, membranous, with rounded pygidium sometimes lightly sclerotized. Pygidium with a pair of prominent, pointed, more or less sclerotized median lobes; second lobes absent or each represented by a rounded prominence; gland spines absent. Anus located in anterior third of pygidium; vulva situated near, or slightly posterior to, centre of pygidium. A few small marginal or submarginal ducts present, absent from between median lobes. Anterior part of body with clusters of fine ducts or conical duct tubercles associated with spiracles or near margin. Perivulvar pores present in 4 or 5 groups.

Second instar female with body enlarged, very elongate like adult female; dorsum heavily sclerotized and darkly pigmented. Pygidium with prominent pair of median lobes, each with central prominence or point and strong marginal notch on either side, followed by a long gland spine and a series of marginal points opposite the first marginal macroduct; second lobe bilobed, often pointed, followed by another long gland spine and another series of marginal points opposite the second marginal macroduct; followed by an interval of smooth margin before another long gland spine; one or two more marginal gland spines may be present anteriorly, and any further marginal macroducts may also be associated with marginal points. Dorsal macroducts confined to margin of pygidium.
