Morphology
LINDGD.jpg
Adult female not pupillarial; body broadly pyriform; prosoma usually membranous, at most only very weakly sclerotized, often with a marginal protruberance on either side; centre of pygidium usually without a large, central sclerotized area, but with a well-defined sclerotized pattern more laterally. Pygidium not very acute, angle subtended by apex more than 90°; with 3 pairs of well-developed unilobulate lobes, all about the same size and shape; margin anterior to third lobes usually sclerotized and serrate as far forward as abdominal segment IV. Slender paraphyses, longer than the nearest lobe, the longest being somewhat clavate, arising from bases of lobes and between second and third lobes; also successively shorter paraphyses arising from sclerotized and serrate margin beyond the third lobe, as far forward as abdominal segment IV. Plates fringed, sometimes not very distinct from each other, present in interlobular spaces and just lateral to the third lobe. Anus oval, usually as long as to much longer than median lobe, situated near or at centre of pygidium; vulva situated between centre and anterior third of pygidium. Dorsal macroducts usually extremely long and slender; usually 1 marginal duct between median lobes, 1 between median and second lobes, 2 between second and third lobes on either side, also a series present anteriorly along the sclerotized pygidial margin; submarginal ducts usually arranged in 3 or 4 series between segments VIII and VII, VII and VI, VI and V and sometimes V and IV on each side, the lateralmost furrow extending as far forward as, or anterior to, the anus. Prepygidial marginal ducts often present on the venter and sometimes on both surfaces. Perivulvar pores present in 2 or 4 groups. Stigmatic disc pores absent; antennae situated fairly near mid-line, each bearing one seta.
